About Annie Miller
I believe in a creating a safe and non-judgmental environment where you can talk about what’s bothering you. I practice from an integrative perspective and offer different techniques including: psychodynamic and relational therapy, adolescent therapy, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), CBT-i (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia), neuroplasticity-based treatments and mindfulness techniques. I have a diverse approach and match my skills with your needs. Therapy is not “one size fits all” and it only helps if it works for you.
I have worked in hospital and outpatient medical settings, including Johns Hopkins Hospital, Washington Hospital Center and Montefiore Medical Center. These experiences taught me how to work with chronic illness, medical-related issues and chronic pain. I use techniques to help manage pain, illness and sleep disorders and I can help clients navigate the complicated medical system. I also work within a collaborative medical practice in my Tenleytown office.
Additionally, I completed the Child and Adolescent certificate program at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies in New York, and I have worked with adolescents and families throughout my career. I completed an intensive EMDR training program to focus on working with individuals who have experienced trauma and I am a member of the EMDR International Association. I have also been trained in CBT-i and have a broad understanding of sleep disorders. I have completed a number of programs through the University of Pennsylvania’s Behavioral Sleep Medicine Department and participate in regular supervision training.
